Brockhouse: Nirenberg Must Publicly Oppose Prop. B and Support SAPD
Calls Out Ron Nirenberg’s Flip Flop After SAPOA Meeting
SAN ANTONIO, TX — San Antonio mayoral candidate Greg Brockhouse today again called on Mayor Ron Nirenberg to join him in standing with San Antonio police officers in support of collective bargaining by announcing his public opposition to Prop. B, which is a back door effort to defund the San Antonio Police Department and unconscionably undermine public safety. KSAT reported yesterday that Nirenberg met privately with the San Antonio Police Officers Association president and flip flopped on Prop. B.
“This is more proof that Ron will do anything and say anything to get elected,” said Brockhouse. “He tells one group in private he supports activists and Prop. B, then yesterday in a private meeting with another group he says he supports police and opposes Prop B. Had the media not busted Ron leaving this secret meeting neither side might have known he was courting both of them. With three weeks to early voting, voters deserve to know which group he was lying to. Leadership is taking a clear position, not making promises all over town. We knew he did that with lobbyists and donors, but to try and deceive both activists and police is shocking. This is a literal flip flop on the biggest issue of the election. It's unreal."
Greg Brockhouse was elected to the City Council in 2017 and previously served the city in several senior roles for other members of the City Council. He served in the U.S. Air Force for nine years. He is a graduate of Texas State University.
